Executive Summary

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the 2011-2014 School Improvement Plan for Crocker Farm Elementary School. This document is the product of the work of the School Governance Council this year. We utilized both qualitative and quantitative data to formulate this plan, which attempts to build on the success that Crocker Farm has enjoyed and push to further improve the achievement and experience of our students.

Some of the data sources we used were: MCAS results, other local assessments scores and analysis, results from the Delaware School Climate Surveys (given to families, students, and staff), the School Evaluation Tool (SET), the Effective Behavior Support survey (EBS), an analysis of Office Disciplinary Referrals (ODR’s) via Educator’s Handbook, data from our implementation of CICO (check in, check out) system, and the MAP assessment, among others.

Some of the changes you will notice compared to the previous School Improvement Plan are:

  • Four specific goals with actions to support each of them

  • An increased focus on the use of data to inform instructional decisions

  • The increased use of evidence-based interventions to support students struggling academically and/or behaviorally

  • An increased focus on teacher collaboration as a consistent thread in all areas

  • The structure of an Enhancement Block, a “hyper-differentiated” 30-minute daily block at each grade level to make our intervention service delivery more efficient and simultaneously to have a dedicated time to provide further additional challenges for students working above grade level

  • An increased focus on alignment and differentiation across all curriculum areas

This ambitious plan for our school, drafted directly after undergoing major changes due to redistricting, is meant to be reviewed consistently and may need revisions as we review data to inform our decisions. The plan is actualized as the core of each professional staff member’s Professional Growth Plan (PGP’s) and offers a clear vision and direction for our school.

The plan has been reviewed and revised based on feedback from the Principal Advisory Committee as well as the entire faculty. I would like to thank the School Governance Council for their great support in drafting this plan.
